Before you can pay your parking charges by smartphone, you need to register with a system provider. You can find certified providers at http://www.smartparking.de/. On this page, you will find the logos of, and links to, the providers.
Smartphone parking is convenient but not free of charge, as you will incur additional costs levied by the provider in addition to the parking fees. However, you will still often save money by paying only for the exact time that you are parked up for.
The various providers offer different conditions and payment methods. When choosing your provider, it is important to consider your parking habits – you may want to check whether the provider also operates in different cities or offers invoices for business customers, for example.
Select the right provider for you and then register with them.
Your system provider will then send you a badge for your car, either by post or via e-mail, via which you can be identified as a smartphone-parking user. This badge is required by the parking regulations in force in Lübeck and Travemünde.
The Hanseatic city is divided into different smartphone-parking zones. These zones are shown in the apps of the respective provider and can also be found as a sticker on the ticket machines. Most apps will automatically suggest the correct parking zone together with the parking tariff, which you start running when you leave your car and have to end when you return.
Where is smartphone parking available?
In Lübeck and Travemünde, smartphone parking is available at all car parks operated by KWL. To find out which other locations in Germany allow you to pay for your parking by smartphone, please consult your system provider or check online at http://www.smartparking.de/.
